The Legal Department offers group-wide legal, compliance, board secretarial, information management and document custody services.
The team’s structure follows that of a private practice, with the objective of effectively internalizing consultation and litigation functions.
The Legal team allocated resources to staying abreast of the many legal reforms catalyzed by Saudi Vision 2030. The team studied reform impact and ramification and ensured that SEDCO Holding and Group companies were prepared and in compliance.
In 2018, the team facilitated several large private-equity deals and continued ensuring Group-wide compliance with legislative frameworks. It also responded to global corporate and tax law reforms advocating simpler corporate structures by undertaking due diligence to ensure Group structures were optimized in local and global markets.
Technological innovation saw a legal services management software suite implemented to effectively track and manage tasks efficiently. Initiatives were also undertaken to increase cross-disciplinary collaboration.
A continual process of human development was followed, and training was delivered to lawyers to enhance interpersonal and financial skills while updating legislative knowledge.
The Legal Department of SEDCO Holding was ranked by The Legal 500 - GC Powerlist: Middle East as one of the most influential and innovative in-house legal teams in the Middle East. The team was also shortlisted by the ACC and Legal Week in its Middle East Legal Awards category, and by The Oath for a similar accolade.
